Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival is a two-weekend festival of (you guessed it!) arts and music, that extends over the course of six days in total and takes place in Indio, California. The event features music from various genres, such as rock, indie, hip hop and electronic, on multiple stages.
Round trip fom New York ⇄ Palm Springs, California (April 11th-April 20th) starting at only $372 (flight details: www.travelpapa.com)
In 2014, there will be more than 150 acts performing (OutKast, Lana Del Ray, Muse, Ellie Goulding, just to name drop a few). The first part of the festival will be held on the three day weekend of April 11-13th and part deux shall take place from April 18-20.
The other half of the festival is dedicated to visual arts, such as installation art and sculpture. Most of the art allows the audience to participate in the creation process. Coachella takes place in the California Desert, so warm (emphasis on warm) weather is to be expected.
Hotels in the area will more than happily indulge you in luxurious treatment with chocolates on your pillow cases and freshly dried towels. But if you’re hoping to get a bit more into the natural, festive spirit of it all, Coachella does allow tent camping as an option for lodging.
Last year, about 17,000 festival-goers opted to make themselves comfortable right on the campgroundsite, while they were provided with mobile charging stations and an internet cafe with free WiFi (of course. OF COURSE!). Celebrities are known to be big fans of the festival as well; who knows, you might just end up sleeping next to Madonna’s tent!
